Extras Cover

You may want to consider taking additional or 'extras' health insurance for services such as dental, optical, chiropractic, physiotherapy, clinical psychology, or treatment for a pre-existing medical condition, all of which are not normally covered by the basic OSHC package.

Several health insurance providers also offer extras cover - check with your insurance provider to see whether they have something suitable for you. International students can also take out extras or ancillary cover with any Australian health fund to supplement their OSHC. Health insurance providers are listed in the Yellow Pages telephone directory, A-K, under Health Insurance. There are many different providers in Australia, that between them, offer many different types of extras policies. Try to check with several individual providers to see what suits you the best, and make sure you are aware of the conditions that apply for certain coverage. You can also visit the Department of Health and Ageing.
