Meet the Peer Mentors!
Our Peer Mentors are a wonderful group of University of Adelaide students who volunteer their time to help new and continuing international students.
Here's what they have to say about their interests and being part of the ISC Peer Support Program.
Hi there, my name is Ammie Huang. I am studying Master of Wine Business in Adelaide University. I think Peer Mentors play an important role for international students, because I received many helps from the Peer Mentors when I arrived Adelaide. Now, I became a Peer Mentor in order to help more international students to adapt university life. I am full of passion for life，I love traveling, calligraphy, photography and music. I am also interested in exchange culture with people from different countries. Welcome to Adelaide University and looking forward to see you soon.
I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) in my third year. I joined the ISC Peer Support program to be able to facilitate a great transition for new international students such as yourselves into university life, which I have personally experienced when I was a freshman myself! I can be seen hanging out normally in the Barr Smith Lawns (photosynthesising by sleeping under the sun) or anywhere in university actually, so don’t be afraid to say hi! I am interested in social events and meeting new people. Adelaide is a great place to explore and certainly has its charm incomparable to many other cities in the world and I hope you will be able to experience this fully and create your own Adelaide Experience!
Hi Everyone! I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Corporate Finance) degree. I like to play badminton, table tennis, hiking, travelling and food. I joined the ISC Peer Support Program to meet new people, embrace the cultures of other countries and most importantly help international students settle into Adelaide and university life. I am mostly in the Professions Hub and Hub Central so don’t be shy to approach me for any questions. Adelaide is an amazing city to study and make lifelong friends, and I am sure that if you allow yourself to be bold and embrace the environment and culture, your experience will be truly unforgettable.
I’m currently studying a double degree of Bachelor Health Science and Law, and 2017 will be my fifth year at the University of Adelaide. My interests includes and are not limited to: reading and writing, advocacy, volunteering and playing a verity of sports (especially foosball). Joining the ISC Peer Support program has been an extraordinary experience that has provided me with opportunities to develop my interpersonal skill... Importantly, with every new student or Mentor that I’ve come into contact with, I have been able to learn about their cultural background and how the personally approach their studies and life… Some of the most memorable experiences I’ve come to cherish as a Peer Mentor have been meeting new students, campus tours, trip to wildlife park/Victor Harbor and LCE events and many more.
