About Your Program
Studying in a new country, city, or University is often different to what you have previously experienced. The University has many different services to assist you.
A couple of the things that you may find different are the teaching methods of Small Group Discovery and lectures. To assist you with becoming more familiar with these aspects of your time at University we have provided some introductory videos / examples below.
Small Group Discovery Experience
The Small-Group Discovery Experience (SGDE) highlights the importance of and actively encourages collaboration between students through working in small groups to make new discoveries. All students should expect to be involved in several SGDEs during their time at University. These experiences come in varied forms. The video below shows just one of these.
The first thing you will probably notice when you begin your studies here in Adelaide is that the learning environment is quite different from what you might be used to at home. To help you prepare for your studies here, we've put together some sample lectures for you to try out.
Watching the videos and participating in the short quizzes that follow will give you an idea of what to expect from the Australian lecture environment. Please note that these sample lectures are far shorter than actual lectures, which are usually 50 minutes long and delivered without a break.
We recommend you take notes while you watch, as this will help you answer the questions that follow. Your score will be displayed at the end of each quiz, and you can retake the quiz as many times as you like. It's a good idea to try out these sample lectures even if you aren't studying the same subjects covered in each lecture, as this will help you practice your lecture-viewing and note-taking skills.
