Workshops & Presentations
Our workshops and information presentations are designed to help you settle into life and study in Adelaide.
Most workshops and presentations are repeated throughout the Orientation period so that you can attend at the time that suits you best. Sessions are held in several different venues so please come to the Welcome Centre 15 minutes prior to the session you wish to attend and a guide will direct you to the appropriate venue.
There are two compulsory sessions, which all new international students are required to attend.
|Arrival Briefing Session||60 mins|
|All new students are required to attend. This general introduction session provides essential information on University of Adelaide requirements, health cover and orientation. You will also receive your Orientation Bag. PEP students are not required to attend. Download the Presentation.|
|Stay Safe||50 mins|
|New to Adelaide? If yes, then this is a must attend session.
Unfortunately accidents and crimes are a part of city life around the world but there are ways you can protect yourself, your money and your property.
Hear practical tips from SA Police and ISC staff on how to stay safe and enjoy your time in Adelaide. Download the Presentation.

|Interested in working part-time whilst you study? This workshop offers invaluable information on visa regulations; where to look for work; and your rights and responsibilities as an employee. Download the Presentation.|
|Aussie Cultures||90 mins|
|Are the stereotypes about Australian attitudes and ideas true? Or is the reality very different? Come and have fun learning about Aussie slang and win a prize. Download the Presentation.|
|Budgets and Bargains||50 mins|
|Living on a tight budget can be difficult. This workshop helps you to develop a budget plan and gives ideas on how to stick to it. It includes tips on finding bargains.|
|Studying in English
|Staff from the Writing Centre present Studying in English. It takes organisation and commitment to study several courses in English when it is not your first language. This session will cover strategies you can use to manage this process and to continually improve your English. It will also show several self-access resources you can use to keep learning.|
|Visa Options Following Study||50 mins|
|Are you thinking of staying in Australia after you complete your studies? An International Student Support Compliance Officer will let you know some of the visa options that may be available to students once they have finished their studies. Download the Presentation.|
|Understanding the University Learning Environment||50 mins|
|Aimed at students who have not studied at University before. An introduction to the academic environment, the University’s expectations and managing your studies. Download the Presentation.|
|Sponsored Student Workshop||45 mins|
|If you are sponsored by your home government or a non government organisation you must attend this workshop. It will discuss your rights and responsibilities as a sponsored student. Download the presentation.|
|Waite & Roseworthy Student Information Session
|This session is essential for all students who will be studying at the Waite & Roseworthy campus.
The session will provide you with valuable information to assist your living and travel arrangements, and also information about studying at Waite & Roseworthy Campuses.
