COVID-19 Offshore Study Fee Rebate
The University of Adelaide is proud to deliver a globally recognised, campus-based learning experience for all of its students. While the challenges of the COVID-19 global pandemic triggered a necessary and temporary shift to remote learning, our teaching and learning has consistently been delivered to the highest standard.
A number of our continuing and commencing international students can’t join us on campus due to current border restrictions. To support them with their studies through the second half of 2020 (including Semester 2, Trimester 3, Winter School, and Quadmesters 3 and 4), we have created the University of Adelaide COVID-19 Offshore Study Fee Rebate.
COVID-19 Offshore Study Fee Rebate
All continuing and commencing international students who are studying offshore and unable to travel to Australia due to border restrictions may be eligible for the rebate of up to 20%.
- The rebate will be capped at 20% total, taking into account any other scholarships or discounts a student may already receive
- The rebate will be automatically applied at the time of acceptance
- The rebate will only apply until travel restrictions are lifted, but will be honoured for the full semester of study. Students cannot choose to remain offshore and receive the rebate for future intakes
Who is eligible for this fee rebate?
All offshore international students who are unable to join us on campus due to border closures may be eligible, including:
- Undergraduate students
- Postgraduate coursework students
- Students who are finishing their studies at PEP or a pathway provider and who are commencing their studies at the University of Adelaide for the first time
Students continuing or commencing at PEP or either of our pathway providers, and Higher Degree by Research students are not eligible.
The fee rebate is applicable to study being undertaken in Semester 2, Trimester 3, Winter School and Quadmesters 3 and 4.
Why isn’t this fee rebate being made available to domestic and onshore international students?
As our campuses reopen, domestic and onshore international students are able to resume their on-campus studies. The fee rebate is an acknowledgment that our offshore international students are not able to engage in campus life, through circumstances beyond their control.
We look forward to welcoming our international offshore students back to campus when government restrictions are lifted.
I’m an international student currently in Adelaide – can I return to my home country and claim this fee rebate?
Throughout the COVID-19 global pandemic, onshore international students have had access to a range of financial assistance from the University, including emergency financial hardship grants, and IT, food and accommodation support. This fee rebate is specifically designed to support offshore international students who do not have the ability to join us on campus due to Australian Government border controls.
Will this fee rebate continue in 2021 if Australian borders remain closed?
The fee rebate will apply for all eligible offshore international students for Semester 2 2020. We will closely monitor the situation and may consider an extension of the fee rebate program if offshore students are unable to join us on campus in Semester 1 2021 due to Australian Government border controls.
