What type of accommodation will I be staying in and where will it be located?
It will be homestay. Please note that we will have two students per family. We will choose families that live as close to the main train line heading to Roseworthy as possible. Students will take public transport, but they will receive assistance in this (for example, host parents will be instructed to assist and we will have staff on the first day helping students at Adelaide station and Gawler station).
Will the homestay be arranged close to the Roseworthy campus or will I be expected to travel to the Roseworthy campus daily?
A bus will be arranged to drive participants from the North Terrace campus to the Roseworthy campus each morning. We will provide you with metro card tickets so you won’t need to pay for transport to the North Terrace campus.
Do I need to upload the personal statement when I register for the study tour?
Once you have registered, we will contact you and you will be given an email address to forward the personal statement to. Once the personal statement has been reviewed, we will confirm enrolment in the program. In the unlikely event that the application is rejected, we will issue a full refund for the registration fee.
What are the arrival and departure dates for the study tour?
Students are expected to arrive on the Saturday prior to the program commencing and leave on the Sunday after the program is completed.
Students who choose to arrive before the start date or leave after the departure date must be supervised by an adult (for those under 18 years old).
Please note that the University will only be responsible for the students when study tour officially begins, and will not able to provide assistance outside of the study tour dates.
Airport pick up will only be available on the Saturday prior to the tour commencing.
If I arrive in Adelaide before the Saturday before the tour and will be staying in the city, could I be picked up in the city and transported to the assigned homestay?
This may be possible, depending on the arrival of other students. However, it cannot be guaranteed at this stage and students may have to meet staff and host parents at the airport.
Will I be guaranteed a place in the study tour once I complete the registration with the full payment?
We will confirm your participation in the study tour once we have reviewed your application and personal statement.
There are only 20 positions available in the program, therefore flights should not be booked until you have received confirmation from the University of Adelaide.
A full refund for the registration fee will be provided if your application is not successful.
What is the brief itinerary for this study tour?
The scheduled activities finish on the Friday afternoon, with Friday evening/Saturday free time for the students to spend with their host families. Therefore any departure on the Saturday is fine.
Please note, flights should not be booked until we have confirmed your position in the Study Tour.
When can I book my flights to Adelaide?
Please wait until your participation on the Study Tour has been confirmed by the University of Adelaide (a full refund for the registration fee will be provided if your application is not successful).
Do I require a Visa to visit Australia?
If my parents/family are accompanying me to Adelaide, can I stay with them instead of homestay and commute to Roseworthy daily?
Yes, however we will need to receive evidence/sign off from your parents that they are indeed in Adelaide.
If I am/will turn 18 years old before the start of the study tour, can I choose to stay at a different accommodation instead of homestay?
Yes, however this will need to be self-funded. Also, please note this Study Tour is targeted at students who are considering studying an Animal Behaviour or Animal Science degree or the Veterinary Science program. We expect any applicants would have a genuine interest in applying for undergraduate studies with our School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
Things to pack?
The Roseworthy campus is an operational farm and you will also be outside during winter. We recommend you pack a wet weather jacket and warm clothes as it may be can be cold. You will also be required to wear closed toe shoes at the Roseworthy campus to participate in the activities.
