  • Frequently asked questions

What type of accommodation will I be staying in and where will it be located?

It will be homestay. Please note that we will have two students per family. We will choose families that live as close to the main train line heading to Roseworthy as possible.  Students will take public transport, but they will receive assistance in this (for example, host parents will be instructed to assist and we will have staff on the first day helping students at Adelaide station and Gawler station).

Will the homestay be arranged close to the Roseworthy Campus or will I be expected to travel to the Roseworthy campus daily?

We will be arranging homestay as close as possible to the Gawler train line.  You will need to travel by train to Gawler, before catching the shuttle bus to Roseworthy. We will provide you with metro card tickets so you won’t need to pay for transport. However you will still need to travel on public transport each day to Roseworthy with assistance from host parents and staff on the first day to help you at the train station.

Do I need to upload the personal statement when I register for the study tour?

Once you have registered, we will contact you and you will be given an email address to forward the personal statement to.  Once the personal statement has been reviewed, we will confirm enrolment in the program.  In the unlikely event that the application is rejected, we will issue a full refund for the registration fee.

Will I be guaranteed a place in the study tour once I complete the registration with the payment of A$500?

We will confirm your enrolment in the study tour once we have reviewed your personal statement. Flights should not be booked until you have received confirmation that the Study Tour will go ahead (if we do not reach minimum numbers the tour will be cancelled).

What is the brief itinerary for this study tour?

The scheduled activities finish on the afternoon of the Friday, with Friday evening/Saturday free time for the students to spend with their host families.  Therefore any departure on the Saturday is fine.  Please note, flights should not be booked until we can confirm the Study Tour will run (if we do not achieve minimum numbers, it will not go ahead).

Please see a very basic itinerary below:

    Monday

Orientation to the University of Adelaide (including a campus tour) plus academic English session
    Tuesday

Visit to Roseworthy to participate in Vet Science activities
    Wednesday

Visit to Roseworthy to participate in Vet Science activities
    Thursday

Visit to Roseworthy to participate in Vet Science activities
    Friday

Day trip to Cleland Wildlife Park to see kangaroos, koalas and emus

When can I book my flights to Adelaide?

Flights should not be booked until you have received confirmation that the Study Tour will go ahead (if we do not reach minimum numbers the tour will be cancelled and you will be given a full refund for the registration fee).

If my parents/family are accompanying me to Adelaide, can I stay with them instead of homestay and commute to Roseworthy daily?

Yes however we will need to receive evidence/sign off from your parents that they are indeed in Adelaide.

If I am/will turn 18 years old before the start of the study tour, can I choose to stay at a different accommodation instead of homestay?

Yes, however this will need to be self-funded.  Also, please note this Study Tour is targeted at students who are considering Vet Sciences for undergraduate studies.  We expect any applicants would have a genuine interest in applying for undergraduate Vet Science.
