Internal Transfer (Change of Program) for International Students

This page provides detailed information for current (enrolled) international students who:

  • Want to change to a different program of study at the same level e.g. from a Bachelor to a Bachelor or a Masters to Masters program.
  • Are completing your degree and wish to continue to a second (or third) degree e.g. Bachelor to Masters.

Find the section below that applies to you, and follow the instructions that will assist you in submitting an application via the Applicant Portal of our International Application System.

If you wish to transfer streams, majors or specialisations, an internal transfer request will not be required in most cases. It is recommended to seek advice from Faculty Student Success before submitting an application.

Leave of Absence and Change of Program

Applying for leave of studies or dropping your enrolments may affect your eligibility to apply for a change of program as an “internal transfer” student. If you are planning to take a leave of absence but wish to change your program, before you finalise your leave of absence or drop your enrolments, please contact us at start@adelaide.edu.au.

If you are currently enrolled and will be completing your degree and wish to continue onto a second degree (e.g. Bachelor to Master), you will need to submit a New Application via the International Application System. Follow the New Application for Current Students instructions below when completing the application form.

Undergraduate programs

Bachelor of Dental Surgery
Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine
Bachelor of Oral Health

If you wish to change your preference, your qualifications and English language proficiency will need to be reassessed for entry into your new choice of program.

If you wish to change your preference (program) before Census Date you will need to request this change via your agent, or login to the Applicant Portal and request a change of program if you applied directly to the University (not via an agent).

If you wish the change your program after Census Date, you can do this by following the Internal Transfer instructions on this page. If your initial application to the University was via an agent, you do not need your agent to submit this Internal Transfer Application – you can submit and internal transfer application yourself.

This applies to you if:

  • You are currently enrolled and studying with us, and
  • You are completing/due to complete a University of Adelaide degree and want to apply for another degree (e.g. completing your Bachelor Degree and would like to study a Masters degree with us).
  • You are not applying to change program to any of the programs listed in ‘Programs not eligible for Internal Transfer’

You will need to submit a New Application via the International Application System.

Follow the steps below:

  • Refer to the International Student Applications page and follow the Before you Apply instructions regarding the supporting information that you will need to provide in your application.
  • When you are ready to submit an application, you do not need to use an agent to submit your application, even if you are from a region or country of citizenship listed under the ‘Ready to apply?’ as requiring an agent.  You may choose to use an agent if you wish to, but you will not be required to.
